Hello all,
Let me start by explaining how i got into this situation. I'm a marketing manager in a hotel/restaurant for some years now in an arabic country (i'm from czech republic) and some weeks ago i got a job offer from a multinational company to work as an interpreter from Czech to French and vice versa. Czech is obviously my native language and french is at the same level of comprehension (even at a better level because of my long practice). I accepted to work for the company because i want to come back to my native country and earn some more money before i come back and have time to look for a job (i know it will be difficult at the beginning because i have no friends there anymore. I've been outside of my country for 13 years.)
My main question is, what should i expect, how can i prepare? I've been practicing daily by translating discussions from czech to french. The company knows i have no experience in the field and wanted me just because i can speak both languages. They weren't able to find anyone speaking czech in here and obviously don't need a professional interpreter (i suppose they can pay for a professional interpreter if they really need one). They also described the work as a simple dialogue between one technician explaining to another how things work.
