Can you please let me know what sort of file (.rtf, .ttx, .xml, xsl, .sgm, .sgml or what?) Powerpoint files are.
Do I have to change the DTD settings in Tageditor and how if the case?

The extension of Powerpoint files is .ppt.

You don't. But why would you want to use TagEditor if you need to align the files? This is done using WinAlign...
