Sharing the company directions

English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
In the minutes of a board meeting, the company's HR executive says:
''The Associates Survey showed that motivation generally has been improved. However, some HR processes can still be changed for the better, such as Appraisal and Recognition, Career Development and sharing the Company Directions.''

''Sharing the company directions'' - if this indeed is an HR process, what does it really mean in this context?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why am I not surprised? :) I should think "aims" is as good a guess as any then.
Grzegorz Mysiński (asker) Mar 28, 2013:
I should have mentioned that the document was probably not written by a native speaker of English....
Sheila Wilson Mar 28, 2013:
sharing the Company Directions? That doesn't make an ounce of sense to me as it stands. Unless it means actually telling staff how to get to the office rather than letting them guess. Goals/aims would make sense, but I can't imagine why they wrote "Directions".

Mission Statement, Goals & Objectives

Basically the company needs to better inform employees of the long-range plans and goals the company wants to accomplish, in the opinion of the HR exec.

It should read in the singular: "Company Direction" - where the company is headed strategically, etc.

communication

We always have problems with upward/downward communication. This sounds to me like a case of downward (i.e., from the president down) communication.

Just another line of thought.

thingS

companies always want all employees to follow all company guidelines and directions or "be all singing from the same hymn sheet" as we say here

"direction the company wants to go IN" is quite a common concept = their aims and objectives/targets/goals
