Hi everyone,

I am a translation and interpretation student in master's degree in Spain, and I am currently doing a research about the role of translators and interpreters in humanitarian missions in Sub-Saharan Africa. I am quite struggling to find some professionals who have done such a mission and who could answer my questions, especially the following questionnaire that I created : https://humanitariantranslation.evalandgo.com/s/?id=JTk1aSU5MW4lOUIlQUE=&a=JTlDcCU5QW8lOUE= .

I already contacted a lot of NGOs and associations but most of them replied that they do not work with proper translators or interpreters. I also wrote to translators without borders but did'nt get any reply yet. Therefore, I would like to know if some of you have any idea about where I could search and find translators/interpreters in this situation? And if some of you already went on a humanitarian mission in Sub-Saharan Africa in order to help communication? If so, could you reply to my questionnaire, and potentially tell me about your experience in a private message?

I am really willing to get as much concrete information about it as possible in order to carry out my study, so I would be very greatful for your answers!

Thank you very much in advance and have a good day.

Noémie

you could try private messaging people Mar 17, 2016

I've seen TWB on the profiles of a lot of members of this site, you could do a search and find them, and send the relevant people a link to your study, as the respondents you need may or may not stumble upon your forum post.

Your survey Mar 17, 2016

I just had a look at the French pages of your survey and thought it was really clear and attractive. (I myself have no relevant experience, but I just wanted you to know that it looked a lot more inviting than other surveys I have seen on this site.) Good luck in finding the right people!

Thank you Mar 18, 2016

Dear Katherine, thank you for your advice, I will try to do that, unfortunately I already contacted TWB and they told me all their translators were remotely based and were not posted to any mission in Sub-Saharan Africa. But I will keep seeking anyway and contact translators privately as you said, if I find some that might be in the situation I am investigating.
